How the Labeling Machine Works
Nov 15, 2018

The beginning of the work process is the box on the conveyor belt at a constant speed to the labeling machine feed. The mechanical fixture separates the box from a fixed distance and pushes the box forward along the conveyor belt the mechanical system of the labeling machine includes a drive wheel, a labeling wheel, and a reel. The drive wheel drags the label strap intermittently, and the label strap is pulled out of the reel, while the label wheel is pressed on the box by the labeling wheel sticker.

The open-loop displacement control is used on the reel to maintain the tension of the label band because the label is closely connected to each other on the label strap, so the label strap must keep starting and stopping. The label is affixed to the box when the sticker wheel moves at the same speed as the box.

When the conveyor belt reaches a particular position, the label belt drive Wheel accelerates to match the conveyor belt, labels it, and then slows down to stop. Because the label comes with a possible slide, it has a registration sign on it to ensure that each label is placed correctly. The registration mark is read through a sensor, and during the label band deceleration phase, the drive wheel adjusts its position to correct any position errors on the label strap.
